ACF Accolades
ACF is proud to have received an "A" rating and be recognized as one of the Nation's Top Rated Environmental Nonprofits by the American Institute of Philanthropy, a nationally prominent charity watchdog service whose purpose is to help donors make informed giving decisions.
In 2004, the Alaska Coalition, working in conjunction with the Clinton Group, received a Public Affairs Pollie Award from the American Association of Political Consultants. Their telephone campaign, “Ban Oil Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.”
In its November 2003 issue, Reader’s Digest chose Alaska Conservation Foundation as the exemplary charity serving the environment, stating that the Foundation is among 12 “Best Charities” that are “worth trusting with your donated dollars.”
In 2002, the Alaska chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals declared ACF an Outstanding Foundation in Philanthropy. The Association of Fundraising Professionals is a nationwide professional association of individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit, charitable organizations.
Also in 2002, the Natural Resources Council of America presented the Leadership Award to the Alaska Coalition in recognition of “efforts by an individual, organization, or coalition that paves a new and bold way for the conservation community,” specifically for their successful work to prevent drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
In 2001, Green Star awarded ACF its Green Star Award for demonstrating a strong environmental and business ethic by implementing the eight Green Star Standards. These Standards encourage waste reduction within several media, as well as education and outreach. Examples of Standards topics include recycling, waste prevention, improved purchasing, outreach to other organizations, education of employees, reduction of toxic materials, water conservation, and energy efficiency.
ACF received a Telly Award in 1989 for its collaboration in the environmental film “Touchstone.”
