Program Officer
Matt Rafferty
Matt moved to Alaska in the summer of 2000 and instantly knew he was home. From 2000 to 2004 he performed a multitude of functions for both the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) and KSKA 91.1 FM. During his tenure with public broadcasting, Matt served as Development Director, Deputy Director, and Co-Producer for the AK pilot project. In these capacities he was responsible for fundraising through grants, membership, and special events, as well as fostering communications with member stations and creating a statewide program focusing on the diversity and uniqueness of Alaska. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Matt’s passion for Alaska’s wild places has led to tireless volunteerism for numerous environmental organizations, community events, and political campaigns. He is a graduate of the Alaska Humanities Forum Leadership Anchorage program and recently served on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Center for the Environment. When not spinning bluegrass on KNBA 90.3 FM or immersing himself in foreign travel, Matt likes to host potlucks, imagine a world with peace, and explore remote parts of Alaska by foot, ski, and packraft.
