Sportsman's Alliance for Alaska

Born and raised in Minnesota, Scott graduated from St. Olaf College in 1990 with a degree in economics.  After a decade-long career in the commercial finance industry, his interests in conservation and Alaska led him to the Alaska Conservation Foundation in late 2001. Serving as a regional organizer for the Alaska Coalition, Scott covered several states in the Upper Midwest and spread the word about Alaska's public lands to all who would listen. Recently, he has combined his conservation work with his love for hunting and fishing, and thus was born the Sportsman's Alliance for Alaska (www.sportsmansalliance4ak.org). Scott works with hunters and anglers, hunting and fishing conservation groups, professional guides, lodges, outfitters, and companies in the hunting and fishing industries to engage them in the campaigns to protect the Tongass National Forest and the Bristol Bay region--areas that are on every sportsperson's list of dream destinations.

Scott has visited Alaska numerous times, his travels bringing him from the rainforests of Southeast to the coast of the Arctic Ocean and many incredible places in between. He's done a lot of fishing, catching salmon, trout, char, and halibut in Alaskan waters. One of his favorite things is to introduce friends and family to Alaska, and most of his immediate family members have been "up north" since Scott began his work for ACF.

Scott resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his wife Nicki, two labrador retrievers, and two cats.  In his spare time, he enjoys pheasant hunting, fishing, playing softball, and travel.
