General Information and Award Categories
Alaska Conservation Foundation appreciates the opportunity to celebrate and honor individuals with a strong commitment to protecting Alaska's environment with its Annual Awards Program. Each year, ACF selects a group of thoughtful, energetic and dedicated individuals who have made long-term, outstanding contributions to the conservation movement in Alaska.
ACF established the awards program to recognize the remarkable achievements of individuals committed to protecting Alaska's magnificent wild places, intact ecosystems, and sustainable communities. ACF accepts nominations for individuals who have done outstanding environmental work in the categories. Current award recipients in each category are included with the award descriptions.
- Lifetime Achievement Award (presented every two years)
- Olaus Murie Award for Outstanding Professional Contributions
- Celia Hunter Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contributions
- Denny Wilcher Award for Young Environmental Activists
- Lowell Thomas, Jr. Award for Outstanding Civil Service
- Jerry S. Dixon Award for Excellence in Environmental Education
- Daniel Housberg Wilderness Image Award for Excellence in Still Photography and Excellence in Film or Video
- Alaska Conservation Foundation Award for Alaska Native Writers or Storytellers on the Environment
