Grant Guidelines
Overview
Alaska Conservation Foundation is a public foundation for the environment. ACF raises funds and awards grants to projects and organizations whose work is consistent with ACF’s mission to protect the integrity of Alaska’s intact ecosystems and promote sustainable livelihoods for all Alaskan communities and peoples. A primary goal of ACF is to build an active and lasting majority that embraces conservation values.
ACF’s intent is to be flexible in the types of support provided to well-established Alaska organizations with a proven track record, enabling these organizations to pursue their conservation mission. Two types of grants are provided under ACF’s general grantmaking: project support and operating support. (See Types of Grants for a full list of ACF’s grantmaking programs.) If you are seeking funds from the Alaska Conservation Foundation’s general grantmaking program, please review these guidelines to determine if your project meets ACF’s funding priorities. Prospective grantees are strongly encouraged to contact ACF at 276-1917 prior to submitting a grant request.
Grant Eligibility
As a 501(c)(3) public foundation, ACF accepts requests for funding from incorporated, tax-exempt organizations and non-incorporated organizations. In rare, exceptional instances, individuals may also be considered for funding (see FAQs ).
To qualify for consideration, prospective grantees must demonstrate that their regular, ongoing activities are consistent with ACF’s mission.
ACF accepts requests for project support from groups and individuals whose work is consistent with ACF’s grantmaking priorities. Project support requests are accepted three times per year at the March, July, and December full proposal deadline dates.
For operating support proposals, ACF will accept requests only from well-established conservation groups incorporated within the state of Alaska that have the following characteristics:
- A track record of successful completion of at least three ACF project support grants,
- A current strategic plan, and
- An active, vital Alaskan membership and/or donor base, and can otherwise illustrate diverse funding sources.
Operating support requests are accepted at the December full proposal deadline date ONLY.
Local offices and/or chapters of national organizations are eligible for project support grants from ACF, but are ineligible for operating support.
