Your money at work
In partnership with over 5,500 individuals and foundations from across the nation, the Alaska Conservation Foundation was able to distribute $1.8 million via over 225 grants to 110 conservation organizations during fiscal year 2004-2005. Private support from generous donors also made possible the $3.5 million in program support ACF used to protect Alaska’s marine ecosystems, prevent unnecessary logging and road building in Alaska’s unique temperate rainforests, raise awareness of Climate Change and prevent drilling in the last of America’s arctic coastal plain.
While achieving staggering victories with our conservation partners like the closure of over 370 million nautical miles of the Bering Sea to bottom trawling to protect Essential Fish Habitat by the North Pacific Fisheries Council in spring 2005, ACF continues to set the bar for charities nationally.
ACF is also proud to receive an "A" rating and be recognized as one of the Nation's Top Rated Environmental Nonprofits by the American Institute of Philanthropy, a nationally prominent charity watchdog service whose purpose is to help donors make informed giving decisions.
In its November 2003 issue, Reader’s Digest chose Alaska Conservation Foundation as the exemplary charity serving the environment, stating that the Foundation is among 12 “Best Charities” that are “worth trusting with your donated dollars.”
