If you have extra time in Anchorage, please check out the sites – from urban fishing on Ship Creek to the spectacular day hikes in the Chugach Mountains. For more information on the Anchorage area, visit the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau at http://www.anchorage.net/. This site also has great travel resources for visitors.

The conference is being held at the Alyeska Prince Resort in Girdwood, which is just 40-miles south of Anchorage. The Resort has a number of amenities for guests. Please visit their website for more information at www.alyeskaresort.com.

On the first day of the meeting, we will visit the Kenai Fjords National Park and tour Resurrection Bay. We will take a walking tour of Exit Glacier (http://www.nps.gov/kefj/planyourvisit/exit-glacier.htm) with the National Park Service to learn how climate change is adding to the rapid retreat of glaciers throughout Alaska. We will then embark on a boat tour of Resurrection Bay with Renown Tours http://www.renowntours.com/. Their smooth sailing catamaran is the best way to get a glimpse of the changing marine environment of the local waters but also the North Pacific.
